Nice textures but I don't quite like the left side... I think those yellow lines would maybe make a nice diagonal, starting from the upper left and then splitting either side of the lower right corner.
EDIT: Hope you don't mind, had to make a quick test, a little like this, but I'd like more of the yellow line at the upper left...

these things are like taking a duck to the pond ... for a Desi..
Yes, that's so true. But ensure, the duck is on a leash. otherwise it may never get back and make you wait at the shore forever....( Case in point, hard earned/saved money in stock market and unaffordable home.....waiting for ever for the recovery)

Did your friend eventually get the visa ? After how long ?
Yes, a friend of mine was not given her VISA they did not say denial instead said they needed to further confirm her qualifiactions and field of research. This is bc she works in boitech and at that point there was the anthrax scare.

I need a little advice on sponspring my uncle vistor's visa from India
My uncle works in auto industry and I would like to nspor him for a vistor visa. His family will not be visting and he is taking care of his in-laws as well.
Does including his family members make any difference?
Also, having a different family name makes any difference in the sponsor's letter?
Any help is appreciated.
You can send a sponsorship letter along with other supporting documents like I-134, bank statements and etc. Ultimately, your uncle has to prove and convince the consular officer that he has strong ties in India in order for him to obtain the visa.

Do you need a valid H-1B status if your H-1B stamp has expired. I don't have any H-1B stamp on my passport and my H-1B status (I-797) will expire on February 14th, 2008. I will then switch to EAD. I am traveling on Feb 23rds, 2008 (Chicago->JFK->Dubai-Pakistan).
So, do i still need a valid H-1B status even though, i will be traveling back on AP?
No you don't need. Whatever Rtarar said - thats what you need

There should be no problem. I have gone there before and going again now next week for H1 stamping and plan to take my personal car. I have Canadian PR though, but I don't think it should matter.

When I will get my GC approved, I will scan all the documents into soft copies and shred them later (except the originals).
After a long journey on several non immigrant visa's my GC finally got approved. The questions that I would like to throw out for the group to think on is regarding the period for which one has to keep all the H1/H4 approval notices and supporting documents?
In my case, I have been here for 10 years and have a 15 pound folder that has all the approval notices (I-797) and supporting documents (copies of I-129, transcripts, everything under the sun)
I would hate to have to carry this for the rest of my life.
Lawyers - Your legal opinion would provide relief to my aching shoulders :)

for eachpage follow the below things
Procedure B
1.) click on page

3.) if you find it, then book
4.) if you don't find, then click on back button
repeat the above [procedure B] until u get what u want
if u don't get anything from above steps then retry procedure A with a different keyword.

And now for some good news.....The New York Times and the St. Petersburg Times reported two separate indidents of penalties and [prison sentences imposed on people who provided fraudulent immigration services to foreign nationals.
The NYT article (http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/03/01/3-million-judgment-in-immigration-fraud-case/?scp=2&sq=immigration&st=cse) describes how Miriam Mercedes Hernandez was ordered to pay $3 million in fines and restitution to her victims. Ms. Hernandez charged her victim up to $15,000 per person to help them get permanent residence or citizenship within eight month but never performed the services she claimed.
As the article states
Immigration fraud, often orchestrated by immigrants, has proliferated across the country, victimizing people desperate to gain legal residency or citizenship. Law enforcement officials say such schemes are particularly difficult to uncover and prosecute because many victims are in the country illegally and are hesitant to seek help from the authorities for fear of deportation.
Under state and federal law, only lawyers or representatives accredited by the Justice Department can represent people before the immigration authorities. Anyone providing immigration services must also comply with strict rules governing contracts and advertising.
The St. Petersburg Times article (http://www.tampabay.com/news/courts/owner-of-clearwater-immigration-services-firm-gets-prison-for-false-asylum/1077161)describes a Clearwater woman who was ordered to 5 years in prison for filing false asylum claims. She was also ordered to forfeit $800,000 in profits. The defendant filed 274 asylum applications with false allegations of persecution.

Most Immigration Lawyers that care for their work are tired of Mr. Dobbs. Mr. Leopold from AILA posted a valid statement about Dobbs' campagin of Hate:
CNN has a journalistic obligation to dump Lou Dobbs and his campaign of hate against immigrants.
It is unthinkable that a major network would permit someone to build a career based on fear and hatred of human beings. Why the double standard when it comes to immigrants?
As Janet Murguia, the President and CEO of the National Council of La Raza pointed out yesterday in her Huffington Post blog, http://bit.ly/Mk0ez, Dobbs disgarded any sense of journalistic objectivity or integrity (assuming he had any to begin with) when he openly participated in an anti-immigrant rally in Washington, DC sponsored by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), an organization designated by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) as a hate group. According to SPLC:
FAIR was founded by John Tanton, who also operates a racist publishing company and has compared immigrants to "bacteria."
FAIR has employed members of white supremacist groups in key positions.
FAIR has promoted racist conspiracy theories.
FAIR has accepted more than $1 million from the Pioneer Fund, a foundation devoted to eugenics and to proving a connection between race and IQ.
FAIR president Dan Stein once suggested that Asians and Hispanics were engaged in "competitive breeding."
Of course Dobbs recent display of hate mongering is just his most recent in a long line of abuse including, as Murguia points out in her blog,
His regular use of guests representing hate groups, vigilantes, and nativists as experts on immigration
His relentless repetition of stories on immigrants and crime that project an impression far from reality
His association of immigrants as carriers of disease that has been both inaccurate and pejorative
Enough is enough.
If CNN is serious about responsible broadcast journalism it must put an end to Lou Dobbs' hateful tirade once and for all.

I agree. For example, in Germany, it is hard to work if you do not speak German. Also in France and all others.
And even in Scotland, they speak different English there and you need to be there for many months before you get used to it.

ILW.COM - immigration news: Bloggings on Political Asylum (http://www.ilw.com/articles/2011,0307-dzubow.shtm)

Political Asylum for Libyan Students in the US?
More than 1,000 Libyan students are currently studying in the United States, and the continuing unrest in their homeland has them worried. To make matters worse, the Libyan Embassy in the U.S. apparently contacted many of the students and threatened to take away government scholarships unless they attended a pro-Khadafy rally in Washington, DC. The Libyan Ambassador (predictably) denied any such threats.
Anti-Khadafy protestors tell it like it is.
Some of the students are politically active. For example, a student in New York has started a Twitter account called Enough Gaddafi that has over 7,000 followers (a website is coming soon). In Kentucky, a group of 50 Libyans gathered to voice their support for the protestors in Libya. And Libyan students in Colorado and Oklahoma are speaking out publicly against Libyan leader Moammar Khadafy.
Given the current situation, can Libyans in the U.S. successfully claim political asylum?
As usual in immigration law, the answer is a definite maybe. For those students listed by name in newspapers and who engaged in anti-Khadafy political activity, or who made anti-Khadafy comments, I would imagine that they have a solid claim for political asylum. If Mr. Khadafy remains in power, the students would face severe consequences upon their return to Libya. There is no doubt that Mr. Khadafys regime tortures and murders political opponents. Further, given the Libyan Embassys attempt to rally Libyans in the U.S. to Mr. Khadafys defense, it is very likely that the Libyan government is aware of the students political opinions.
For those Libyans not mentioned in newspapers, or who were not contacted by the Embassy about attending the pro-Khadafy rally, an asylum claim might be more difficult. Generalized strife in a persons home countryin and of itselfis usually not sufficient to qualify for asylum. Whether a particular individual qualifies for asylum would depend on his or her personal circumstances.
Finally, the situation in Libya is very fluid. Perhaps Mr. Khadafy will be gone soon (we can only hope), but perhaps not. As the situation on the ground continues to evolve, so too will the possibility for asylum for Libyans in the U.S.

From Oh:
06/10/2008: USCIS to Issue Multiple-Year EAD for I-485 Waiters at End of June 2008!
The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security announced on 06/09/2008 that the DHS would start issuing multiple year EAD beginning from end of June 2008 for the I-485 filers. Hooray!
http://www.immigration-law.com/
FROM DHS Secretary Chertoff
.... I'm also pleased to announce that we will be extending the validity period of the employment authorization documents that we issue to individuals who are waiting adjustment of status to lawful permit residenture or in colloquial phrase, the green card.
Currently, adjustment applications are granted employment authorization documents with only a one year maximum validity. Beginning later this month, we'll start issuing these documents with a two-year validity period for aliens who are waiting adjustment of status if their application is expected to be pending for more than a year.
This, again, is eliminating a persistent source of frustration for workers who are here, who have a pending adjustment application but have to go and renew their employment documents every single year. It's going to cut the paperwork there. ....
