Stereoscopy works but by god that sweet spot it requires is really fecking tight! The merest tilt throws it off and as this is a handheld console you will be throwing it off a lot, unless you unnaturally physically force your arms to hold it as rigid as possible, hold your eyes half crossed and fixed tight (which strains), and your neck stiff too. It's clear why Parralax 3D is a long way off being used for commercial TV screens. When it works it works, but it takes a wasps fart to blow it off course.
That's disappointing. I read in a review the 3d effect hurts the battery life, too.
Still on the fence about getting one...Nintendo's newest console and all...but none of the launch titles really interest me except Shadow Wars.

Parenting fail. People should learn how to use the device and check if the device has parental controls.

yeah, it would only cost them $1000+ to have someone come round to my house and do something about it, well worth the �59 they would sell the end product for :rolleyes:

Plus, I paid for Jaguar (well, the computer it came on), I paid for Panther, I paid for Tiger and I'll 100% certainly be paying for Leopard when it comes out. I want to play with the new features every so often, and get myself all excited about what's to come. How exactly am I hurting Apple? They'd be fools to drive away a long time and dedicated customer by throwing legal issues at me.

It does. You need to go into Tools --> Synch Services and enable calendar sync. I then restarted Outlook and iTunes, synced my iPhone (Info --> Advanced --> Replace info on this iPhone) and everything was there when I went into the calendar.

Well, I just recently switched from Windows to Mac OS X. In Windows, one is able to sync Outlook through iTunes with the iPhone. But in OS X, iTunes shows only the sync options with iCal and Address Book contacts, nothing from Outlook. I'm probably missing something here and would appreciate some enlightenment. All of these comments miss the point of what the announcement is about, institutional purchases. This is about school's buying large quantities, and really, since I have a hard time imagining that a University would be buying 10 packs of iPods .
Apple does sell iPods in institutional packs.
We've asked several Apple representatives "if I buy a class set of 32 ipods, and I want to use a paid app, how many copies does the school need to buy,
You need to talk to the developer, not to Apple. The App Store doesn't do volume licensing, because it's a consumer resource. The developer will either give you codes for each device or arrange to provide you with a master for site licensing, in which case you'll have to go the enterprise deployment route that Apple offers for large organizations.

if people are constantly being told that this music, is the new thing, then sooner or later they will buy it. rather then making music a personal choice, they buy what ever is on radio.
I take your point, but it's not necessarily a bad thing for humanity that we share common tastes and interests.

Seriously, does anyone know how to use an email address that is not a mac.com address as the reply-to in .mac webmal?
I only use the webmail at work, and at home Mac OS X Mail lets me use my "real" email address as the reply-to. I would love to know how to do it in webmail. An earlier poster said you can, but I just can't see how.

Things are about to change...
In order to let version 1.0 of this widget really blow your socks of, some changes had to be made on the ExtremeOverclocking side.
The guys are great in adding some extra info i requested. Small bummer: the current version of the widget doesn't work anymore (it has no idea the xml file changed - no AI yet, sry). I'll try to do a quick fix by the end of the week (should be faster, just not in the mood right now :cool: ). 1.0 should be out before the end of the month (september that is ;)).

I expect that 10.4.8 will be required for Aperture 1.5 (as OS updates are normally required to add RAW support for new cameras). A post on another forum (arstechnicas iirc) by someone who was at Photokina and had talked to someone from Apple said that Aperture 1.5 was scheduled to be available for download at the end of the show (October 1st)...

On the first day of sales, I went to our local Mall. The Apple Store line was absurd,,,,100 yards. The AT&T line was about 50 people long. The Verizon store was literally empty. I don't trust surveys. The hard numbers will come out shortly.

Never fear. Apple will invent a new number, complete with a new character. 10.4.9 will include updates to all system font files and keyboard layouts containing this new symbol.

The military and the Army has had a "dialogue" with Apple for years... pretty much every project involving a piece of field equipment has gone to another manufacturer because of durability concerns.
The U.S. Military has been using Apple Computers for years. I know for a fact they were crucial in the development of RFID tracking used in logistics. They were also more difficult to hack into and required less IT support to maintain them in the field.
