I've never had any issues with the latest updates, so I don't really care with 10.4.8...but I wish Safari could be less memory-hungry, or use less virtual memory...that's all.Me too. And I wish Safari had a "Sure you want to quit?" dialog box for those times when we accidentally do a Command + Q in the dark when we thought we were doing a switch application Command + Tab.
Glad to hear it's in Leopard. But having to wait for an entirely new system version to get a little helpful dialog box in one little application seems like an expensive unnecessary delay.

has anyone tried syncing the contacts yet? i'm curious what information gets pulled down and tied to a contact besides the profile picture and "links."
I'm wondering this too. I had thought it sounded cool until I got to the "I Agree" screen and saw the verbiage about making sure the info that gets pulled from your phone to Facebook is ok with your friends. I clicked "I don't agree" and decided to cone here to see what others are saying.

I agree that both OS's are good and in many cases a less expensive baseline Windows PC can adequately meet the needs of most users.
But this line of advertising really misses the mark with me. As someone else said ,it's like comparing a Rolls-Royce and a Subaru. Both are "cars" with engines, and tires and a steering wheel but are not really the same at all. Microsoft simply throwing up a few PC's that are near the spec's of a Mac, really does not tell the whole story.
Besides shouldn't HP, Gateway, Acer or Dell be running this add about HARDWARE and not Microsoft?

Does anyone know if this update fixes the issue of Office depositing some 'recovered files' in the trash upon every boot? That was sooo annoying. Every time I booted, I'd have to empty the trash. Other people had the same issue, but there wasn't a proper solution. One Microsoft employee just said, 'it's safe to empty your trash.' That's not the solution we're looking for! Why are random files being generated in the trash in the first place?! Sorry. =)

Unless I misread the report, basically all Target did was remind the studios that the DVD format is in jeopardy and they better get with the times or Target will. And if studios need Target and Wal-Mart to tell them that, they're in more trouble than I ever thought.
Assuming that studio execs have 1/2 a brain, then they must be well aware that the DVD format is obsolete. They must also recognize that digital distribution directly to computers (or TVs), is the one of the next delivery methods. Now, assuming they know this, they sure are doing a lousy job of offering us alternatives. Problem is, Hollywood's had it too good for too long. Complacency breeds laziness. Adapt or die. And it sounds like Target intends to adapt.
That said, the underlining message here is that (like it or not) companies like Apple are driving the distribution bus. We're witnessing a changing of the guard, so to speak. Which is the reason I rate this "rumor" a positive.
Now if we could just get the same kind of revolution in the mobile phone market...

An another note, everybody makes mistakes. I don't think it's necessary to insult some of the parents posting here for their struggles with their children. I bet a lot of the insults come from people who aren't even parents themselves, so they wouldn't have a clue about the complexities, difficulties, and stresses associated with being a parent.
These parents already have their hands full without someone else (who probably doesn't understand anyway) insulting them.

I know this is more of a "wish" thread than a "likely to happen" thread, but I'm going to chime in and predict that the Air refresh will be fairly minor.
I predict we'll see Sandy Bridge and Thunderbolt (like the Pro/iMac lines) and better GPU, but beyond that, I predict same body design, no addition of backlit keys, and the worst prediction: likely the same SSD configurations. I say this based on the refreshed iMac SSD options; the prices for SSD have not gone down even in the slightest. I predict the base SSD options and even the BTO options will remain the same as they are today. Of course, I hope I am way wrong.
The last thing, which in my opinion can swing one way or another, is the RAM. I predict it'll stay standard (again, based on the iMac refresh) at 2 GB, and will not come standard 4 GB. Again, I hope so too that this will swing in a more favorable way.

This is the first time I am allowed to vote so I am paying attention to politics more than ever. I mean it would be good to have a completely loaded president so he "can" spend some of his money for the economy, which Trump says he will do.

Lets separate reading and writing exFAT. If I can read it, I can pull stuff off of it. So OS X will require the ability to read exFAT in order to make it compatible with non apple devices that will be using this format. HOWEVER, it is not required that Apple choose to read exFAT. You could format with HFS+. Then any device that can read HFS+ could read and write to it.
If I can write to exFAT, then I can place data (even 4GB+ media files) on the card. Apple may create a driver that allows you to read exFAT but not write to it.
This matters if you are going to use the card to store media files (4 GB+), or are planning on using the card with non Apple devices. I could get a 128 GB SDXC card, format 100 GB in FAT32 for a user directory, and format 3 8GB swap spaces (one for OS X, one for Windows, and one for Unix). Then I'd have my user files and swap space with me wherever I go, and it would be cross platform compatible (everyone reads and writes FAT32). Yes, FAT32 does have a maximum partition size, this is why I used a 128 GB SDXC card as the example. And yes, I wouldn't have my media files (movies) on the card (I'd need one of the 2 TB cards to do this).
Since Pretec is selling an ExpressCard SDXC reader, this is what I plan to do with my triple boot MBP (see sig). I'll point my OS X user directory to the directory that will be on this card, I'll do the same for Win7, and BackTrack. Each OS will also have swap space on the card. This increases security too. If I have my SDXC card with me, someone using the laptop can't see my files at all. It also increases speed (maybe and a little) because I'm using a different storage device and bus to put my user files/swap space on.

And Apple might need to license exFAT just to read it even if not to write. (might need, I don't really know as there are now forensics tols that read exfat but I don't think those guys are licensing it, maybe read only is ok and doesn't violate licensing agreements?)

I have seen 48GB and 64GB so far, and the 64GB (at a low i/o speed) can be gotten at amazon for about $200. But the card are running in the $350-$600 range with speeds claimed to be 30MBs (that is mega-bytes per second) so it will be a while for the prices to come down and the speeds to increase near the SD 3.0 level of 104 MBs, let alone the SD 4.00 spec of 300 MBs.

Just wondering how Japan perceives Apple as a company - if anyone knows. I know they don't like Microsoft (as in Xbox). I can't imagine they sell many Apple computers over there. Ipods a different story?
Last I remember, Japan and Korea tend to show loyalty to Japanese companies, hence Sony playstation doing well in Japan. I also remember reading that iPod is #3 in like Japan, a #4 in Korea or something.
