see this youtube video and you will be able to determine whether CPU affects the overall speed more than GPU. This guy compared 11" MBA(with 320M graphics) and 13" sandy bridge MBP with SSD(with Intel 3000HD graphics )

Of course sandy bridge MBA won't use full power sandy bridge. But you will know that MBA's performance is just overpraised by SSD, not by GPU. Once other notebooks get SSD, MBA's benefit is only limited to small form factor and weight.(maybe + high resolution)

Has apple ever officially responded to any false marketing claims they may have accidentally stated? For example - them stating their macbook pro battery life lasts X amount of time, however it really lasts X -3 hours.. and they've responded in an official capacity?

You cannot simply go "oh we are spending more money than we have, lets just go get more money" or "what do we want to do? let's get the money to do it" and expect to keep a balanced budget. Because the next time you have the problem, you'll do the same thing. This obviously is not repeatable indefinitely.And nobody said it was, or that you should repeat it indefinitely. But you can't expect people to get on board with severe cuts -- especially the ones they're now talking about to Medicare, Medicaid and SS -- if you're still overspending on defense, tax cuts for the rich, and corporate loopholes.
The way to keep a balanced budget does not change when you are the government as compared with individual. It's about not spending more than you have and then finding ways to get more money. It's about spending money on things which are necessary, not merely wanted.The government funds plenty of things, like libraries and parks, that aren't "necessary" but wanted. In the end it's all about how much we're willing to pay for. What's odd is that you see the middle class wanting to keep many of those services; it's the rich and the corporations that are screaming bloody murder about them.

how about an ad that just urges users to ask their friends
something like this:
Buying a computer is a big investment, so before you make your next big investment ask yourself "do you want to be happy?"
if the answer is yes, then we recommend you ask your friends:
"do you use a mac or pc?"
"are you happy or frustrated with computers?"
i can't think about anything better than letting customers interview their own friends... it gets some buzz going and gets people talking publicly more

I can't defend Apple's rejection of this app, because it doesn't make sense to me. However, I can see how Apple's approval policy can lead to unintended consequences. If we view Apple as evil, then of course we will see nothing but malevolent intent. However, if we think about how the process actually works, we should realize that some of these things are predictable. I don't work for Apple, but I expect that like any organization that employs human beings, there will be variation in judgement based on the fact people are different, and the reality that it's impossible to account for every scenario. The idea that Apple can make every prohibited type of app crystal clear does not make sense to me. There are always situations that can't be covered 100%. There are trade-offs as in all of life. Lack of flexibility always comes at a price, so you do the best you can. The reviewers at Apple are like everyone else in society. Some are mature (not necessarily meaning older) people with good insight and can make good judgements when they interpret the rules. Others try to make decisions based on an interpretation of the rules that is not based on what most of us would consider good judgment.
There are situations, such as Apple's attitude regarding Flash on the iPhone OS, when we know where the entire company stands. Sometimes we can't be sure that a decision reflects the entire company. So when people claim that "Apple" is doing something to screw someone over, sometimes it's a specific individual at Apple; someone who may not share the same perspective as the senior leaders at Apple, or even another Apple employee 10 feet away from them.
There are situations, such as Apple's attitude regarding Flash on the iPhone OS, when we know where the entire company stands. Sometimes we can't be sure that a decision reflects the entire company. Consequently, this does appear to be a test version of iOS 4.0 rather than an upcoming iOS 5 build, although Apple could of course choose to implement some of these features in future iOS releases.
The device also appears to contain several preloaded applications internally used by Apple for diagnostics, testing, and demoing, lending additional legitimacy to the claims.

I just called a store in my area. They have 32 and 64GB but they said they can overnight ship me one with 16GB capacity!
Then I realized I am still not sure whether I really need one!!! :confused:

Hong Kong, Japan & a few other countries have been using technology like this for a while. Hopefully it'll start being mainstream in Western countries soon.
Hong Kong uses a SMART type card for everything, transport, vending machines, etc etc.
Japan uses their mobile phones, AFAIK :P
Yeah, it is so wide spread in Japan that you can use it at little corner shops these days. Great technology.

After cutting my cable TV 3 months ago I've been using Netflix and haven't looked back! I considered getting Hulu Plus, but didn't see the value in it. I barely even watch Hulu free anymore (all my free episodes are expiring to Plus now). Occasionally I can't find anything "good" to watch, but it's great for watching older TV shows in HD. Been burning through Arrested Development :D

I used to have Netflix as I have 4 devices that stream Netflix (WDTV Live, LG Stereo, Samsung TV, TiVo - a little overmarketing, TiVo?)... and I noticed over the last year a huge drop in the decent stuff available to stream, namely anything good from TV... can't even watch seasons of CSI... Fu#$% that.
I cancelled for total lack of anything good streamable.

But I agree in theory that we can cut down greatly on how much we drive. And higher gas prices will do that(which is good, even if we don't make as much off taxes as you would if driving levels stay the same)
The new wave of urban living will help too. If people don't have driving as an option because of price, or have it less, interest in public transit but also walking and biking will increase due to natural market pressures. However, many towns and cities in the US will have a major infrastructural gap because they have so many roads that are not cyclist / pedestrian friendly. They will likely change due to economic pressure, but cities investing in walkability now will be well poised to grow when/if such a time comes.

simple fix - turn off Time Zone Support. TZS, which is on by default, sets the time zone that your calendar displays everything in. but there is an error. the good thing is that you can turn it off, which makes all of your appointments come up in LOCAL time, which is really what you want, right?
but first, write down the times of any appointments that you made from your iphone. those times may change when you turn time zone support off. and if the only place where you put it was in your iphone, you may not know what the real appointment time was.

Phones keep time while they're off. Phone's also don't check to see what time it is, every hour, they check when they're turned on. The network provides a fallback, but the phone should know what time it is, too. There's no excuse for Apple's spotty coding. None.
Agreed. My macbook air correctly adjusted to the right time without needing an internet connection, so I don't see why my phone should rely on the carrier.

This might have a lot to do with the huge number of PC users who also have iPhones. Apple won't want to alienate that crowd (likely the majority), and they know that USB 3 is already catching on in a big way in the PC world, while Thunderbolt will have to work hard to catch up.

I don't have experience with FM radio docks. But I have read very good reviews about iHome docks that include FM radios.

My old flatmate was invited by O2 to take part in a trial of this technology in a nokia phone here in london. The phone had the ability to be an Oyster card (pay for public transport), an instant pay barclay card and to read a series of tags which he was given. Not sure what they were really useful for to be honest, but I guess you could set it up to change settings depending on location.
I think the trial was a success, so it doesn't surprise me that this would be incorporated in the iPhone.
