One of my favourite features of the Apple TV is the ability to AirPlay a video stream from my Mac or from my iPad. I can watch a YouTube video, say "hey guys, check this out" and have it up on my big screen TV to show my friends in moments. Or I can purchase an iTunes movie or TV show, bring it to a friend's house, and play it on their TV.
Imagine a future where AirPlay is a ubiquitous standard. You could carry that iPad anywhere and beam your favourite videos to any of your TVs or video displays, without the need for an Apple TV at each one... that would be incredibly cool.
I'd want an AirPlay-enabled TV in my kitchen, so I could beam it cooking videos or recipe photos or otherwise put up stuff to watch while I'm working.

i don't know why wally world and target are complaining, this will not hurt DVD sales. like what was said. there are allot of people that cant afford new Mac's to play there movies (my problem). or live outside of the city and don't have a high speed connection (cause they are to far out) or just cant afford satellite internet. i like to have the original copy (in dvd format) i know allot of other people that also like to have a dvd of the movie.
boy are they stupid (wall-marts and target) in not seeing this.

That expos thing is just so much better than the current lame multi-tasking that makes you have to scroll through icons at the bottom of the screen. What if you don't even specifically remember what the name and icon of the app you're looking for is?

I'm amazed with some
people on these forums in that unless the phone gets a case re-design and LTE it's only a minor update. Really? going to a dual core processor and 8mp camera is "just a spec bump?"
With "cloud" computing on the horizon, speed of access to stored content is of paramount importance for phones.
If you can't read those tea leaves, I don't know what to tell you.

oh GOD, 20?!
please make it stop...
Meh, it was effective enough to get in the LA Times...
...the only reason why I didn't like the campaign at first was because I thought it was dull and everyone would pass it by as if it were just another commercial. But according to this article, it sounds like it has generated some definite interest...which, imo, is a good thing.
effective does not mean good. ever heard of negative attention?
those ads suck...admit it. they are AWFUL.

I was thinking could Arn not give out a paid subscription to the forums for a year say when you hit milestones of 250,000 points or so?
Budget is around AUS$800-1000, and I will be getting most of the parts in 3 to 4 months unless there is new tech coming not to long after it?
i would love it if Arn would do that!
what is that American?
it depends if you want to go intel or amd. also, you have to consider that the new GPU client is coming eventually, which should help ATI video cards greatly

4$ is a lot when considering the margins mfg are working under for the average consumer model (sub 1k). I just don't see why they don't give it away

I don't think this is real. If this was a "prototype" why would it have XX GB on the back. None of the OEM iPhone 4's have any storage indication markings on the outside. So why would the XX be on the case?
If you ask me, its customized with aftermarket white glass (that you can buy from china, in white, pink, blue, black, green, etc).
In fact, after looking closer at the video. The back of the case appears to be a shiny or clear-coat plastic, and not glass. Furthermore, there appears to be a separation or gap along the bottom edge of the phone on the back of the device. Supporting that it is a poor seal from an aftermarket replacement of a black iphone 4's glass with a replica white piece. Such a gap would NOT exist if this was released by apple or exist in a prototype.
The Gizmodo prototype, and every other known prototype of the iPhone 4, had that XX marking in the back. This is not the first time this has appeared.

This is great news for Apple and for iPod-owning travelers. I can't for the life of me imagine why 5% of people who voted determined this news to be negative, but I often have this problem with the polling system. Anything that entrenches the iPod for the consumer and the marketplace will only be good for Apple and its product line. One could argue that market domination might preclude innovation, but I don't see that being the case with Apple so much as it is with Microsoft and Dell. The iPod is well on its way to becoming ubiquitous (sp?) -- which will mean greater access to media for us iPod owners.

Picked up my pre-order today, so far so good! The main reason I exchanged for my Elite was to see if the new Xbox was quieter in RL, which is its by a huge factor. I've got MW2 installing at the mo, and from 3m away can barely discern a hum - no more turbine hall, huzzah!
With no disk in it really is whisper quiet. There's a shrill "beep" when you use the DVD drive eject button to confirm you've actually touched it, as it's not illuminated in anyway that's probably a good thing.
Only issue I had was that the HDD was not detected first time I switched it on. One removal and insertion later and alls good, 227GB usable space. I'll ditch all of the pre-installed stuff before I get around to installing all my go-to games, add-ons, saves etc.
Suits my Samsung HDTV to a tee, one happy owner here!

Unless the microgenetics machines are small, well, there are several stages in DNA transcription and reverse transcriptase, which would make several conditions unsuitable. Heat destroys it. It can be awfully slow. There are at least 6 stages using different equipment.

don't ask me! ask the EU about it. i don't make the regulations. but i can tell you this, they want a standard port for charging purposes and data transfer, so that you have to deal with fewer cables. it's not a bad idea, if you think about it.

Of course, what you're implying, but not saying explicitly, is that Apple would never license the dock connector to a product that would be an adaptor to Zune. I'm not so sure that's true. Look at it this way, what's the best way for Apple to make sure that companies don't go putting Zune connectors in their cars and on their airplanes? Allow there to be a way to connect a Zune to an iPod dock connector. It's very magnanimous of Apple, but it means that Zune users will have one more bit of inconvenience compared to iPod users.
So, I stand by what I said. I believe it will happen... legally.
Good point (truly) ... but I stand by what I said too. I think if your scenario wwas true then we would see Creative Zen adapters or SanDisk Snasa adapters on the market - at least they have proven marketshare against the iPod. Still ... it will be interesting to see how this will pan out.
What i wonder is if the Wifi the Zune uses for file transfers will be banned on planes. If it's not, then i want to be able to use Wifi for any device on a plane.

Kinda wonder if this "PI" is even real...
Since the story broke, the guy's website has been posted across every tech news site around.
Fact of the matter is that I am sure that this situation has netted him a few more sales.

I'm sure it has too. But you just KNOW it won't go on. Apple people read all those tech sites too and know all about it now!

Surely a 'Made in USA' car is a thing to avoid? Big, no style, bad engines (huge capacity with no power), poor reliability, nasty plastics inside.
Get a european one, more reliable (VW, BMW, Mercedes, Audi) far far superior technology in the engines, safer and better for the environment, plus you pump money into our economy :p
Some really sexy cars: VW Scirocco, BMW 3 Series Coupe, Renault Megane Coupe, Audi TT, Volvo C30.... plus they will last for years!
I can't tell if you're feigning ignorance in the interest of having a laugh, or if you have really bought into the ol' stereotypes. Or maybe my sarcasm detector is broken.
1. Did you know Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW all manufacture cars in the USA?
2. I would like to see the source that says the cars you mention are categorically "more reliable" than American-made cars. I suspect that if you spend a little time at www.jdpower.com you will come away, like I did, seeing mostly non-European cars listed at the top, with a somewhat even smattering of American and German cars thrown in.
3. If you are in the UK, I am wondering exactly how much of a boost your local economy gets if I buy a Mercedes assembled in Sindelfingen. A lot of German tourists ripe with auto-industry cash come your way, do they?
4. As an aside, only 3 of the 5 car models you suggest are even available here. They are all fine vehicles, I'm sure, but they are hardly fair recommendations if I can't get them.
I'm no cheerleader for the U.S. auto industry; there hasn't even been an American-made car in my garage for 5 years. And by and large, our love affair with SUVs deserves mocking. But the notion that one cannot buy a reliable, economic car which simultaneously benefits the U.S. economy is FUD.

I checked the update pace for Mac OS X 10.4.
29/04/2005: 10.4.0
17/05/2005: 10.4.1 (+ 18 days)
12/07/2005: 10.4.2 (+ 56 days)
31/10/2005: 10.4.3 (+ 111 days)
11/01/2006: 10.4.4 (+ 72 days)
14/02/2006: 10.4.5 (+ 34 days)
03/04/2006: 10.4.6 (+ 48 days)
27/06/2006: 10.4.7 (+ 85 days)
27/09/2006 (today) + 92 days
Soon we'll have 10.4.8, and then probably around 3 months later 10.4.9 (January?). I doubt Apple will release 10.4.10, they could but I don't think they ever did it with another OS.
I thought first that it could mean that Leopard would be early, but I don't think so (spring 2007 is March 21 - June 21).
